“Effective leadership empowers each member
of a veterinary health care team and encourages
individuals to find excellence, passion, and
success in their work and in their lives.”

Alyce has more than 20 years of experience
in leadership. After learning customer service
and personnel management in the retail industry,
Alyce began her career in veterinary medicine
as a receptionist in a busy emergency hospital.
Soon after, she became an emergency and critical
care technician and hospital manager. Alyce helped
establish Horizon’s flagship hospital, the Fox Valley
Animal Referral Center in Appleton, Wis., in 1996
and since then has been instrumental in establishing
new referral hospitals in Wisconsin, Oregon, California and Iowa.

As a founding partner of Horizon Veterinary Services, Alyce has been deeply involved in the development of Horizon network hospitals. She recruits specialists and emergency clinicians, establishes a market presence, assists with the fine-tuning of floor plans and hospital design, and nurtures new referring relationships with local primary care veterinarians.

Alyce’s detailed knowledge of all positions within a practice gives her valuable insight for advising hospital managers on human resource issues, client services, marketing, public relations, policy, protocols, fiscal responsibility and overall business organization.
