“An exceptional support staff is the heart and
soul of a veterinary practice. A team of excellence
is essential to providing outstanding patient
care and client services."
Deb has more than 25 years of experience in
veterinary medicine and practice management.
Deb began her career in veterinary medicine in
a busy general practice, serving as a registered
technician and later as practice manager. During
this time she was instrumental in the development
of two new primary care hospitals, including the
educational and training programs for their support
staff. Deb’s experience also includes work in an
emergency practice, an ophthalmology practice
and a reference laboratory.
In 1996 Deb joined the Fox Valley Animal Referral Center in Appleton, Wis., as a founding partner of Horizon Veterinary Services. Deb has been instrumental in the development and success of the Horizon School of Veterinary Assisting, a school that trains veterinary assistants to support registered technicians and veterinarians. She is also a key player in caring for network hospitals. She recruits andtrains technical support staff, establishes the equipment and supply needs, assists with the fine-tuning of hospital design, and helps with the information technology systems.
Deb’s knowledge of all technical positions within a practice gives her the experience and perspective for advising technical staff on nursing care, client service, record maintenance, laboratory technique, radiology skills, anesthesia protocols and team training.
